Love -
When God says He loves us He has already shown it by His actions. John 3:16 "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son, and whoever believes in Him will not perish but have everlasting life." The love that God has demonstrated and demonstrates is a type of love that we should long to have and demonstrate in our lives toward Him and our fellow man. We love Him because He first loved us. 1 John 4:19-21
We have the ability to love and be loved and must do so in order to be pleasing to God. When our brother is in need we should help them as we have the ability to do so. 1 John 3:17 Being selfish should not be a trait in which we should have nor desire to have by any means. Philippians 2:3-4
Many have offered lip service to God that has proven to be worthless because their heart was not into doing His will. We should not allow our words to be of no affect. We must go the distance to fulfill the command to love one another. Luke 13:34-35 God first - others - self - just that simple. Loving God is Knowing God
