About Us

About Us

We are a local church of Christ overseen by qualified elders that tend to the flock (Acts 20:28; Acts 14:21-23;
1 Timothy 3:1). The elders of the West End church of Christ only have authority over this local church
(1 Peter 5:1-2), and their only standard of rule is the Word of God (Acts 20:28-31).

Under the oversight of our elders we worship God in spirit and in truth (John 4:24). We only doing what they did in the first century church. Our worship services do not include the various activities that appeal to the outward man so common in churches today such as recreation and entertainment, but instead involved spiritual sacrifices that strengthen the soul. If you visit the West End church of Christ on any first day of the week, this is what you can expect.

Singing - "Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord" (Eph 5:19).

Praying - "And they continued steadfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers" (Acts 2:42).

Giving - "On the first day of every week, each of you is to put something aside and store it up, as he may prosper, so that there will be no collecting when I come" (1 Cor. 16:2).

Lord's Supper - "And upon the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul preached unto them, ready to depart on the morrow; and continued his speech until midnight" (Acts 20:7).

Preaching - "Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine" (2 Tim 4:2).

During our worship services, you can expect only the Word of God to be proclaimed. We have no creed but the gospel and no book but the Bible as our standard of authority. Thus, not only will you hear a sound lesson from the Word of God, you can also expect to hear exactly what man must do in order to become a Christian. The following is what the Bible teaches and what we emphasized:

Hear - "So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God" (Rom 10:17).

Believe - "I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins" (John 8:24 ).

Repent - "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord" (Acts 3:19).

Confess - "For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation" (Rom 10:10).

Be Baptized - "And Peter said to them, Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit" (Acts 2:38).

If you are in our area, why not come and visit with us during one of our services? You will find, not only a local church that is sound in the faith, but also a very friendly group of Christians who will be thrilled that you have come and will show it by their kind and friendly greeting of you. We are glad that you are browsing our website and we hope to see you sometime soon at one of our services.
